BOKARO: Deputy commissioner Ajay Nath Jha has ordered probe into the mishap at Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) on Sunday evening in which three workers suffered massive burn injuries, administrative officials said on Monday. As per the communique from the district administration, DC has asked Chas Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Pranjal Dhanda to probe into the incident and submit report within 12 hours. Additionally, separate reports have been sought from the factory inspector and executive director (works) of BSL, Priya Ranjan about the incident. “Once the accountability is established, strict action will follow and no one responsible will be spared,” Jha warned. Last evening, three contract workers suffered severe burns following a mishap at the Steel Melting Shop-2 (SMS-2) at BSL premises. They were rushed to the intensive care unit (ICU) of Bokaro General Hospital (BGH), where their condition remains critical. Jha also visited to the hospital last night to take stock of the situation and directed authorities to ensure proper treatment. DC said, “The administration is sensitive to the situation. The best treatment will be ensured for the injured. I have asked the hospital to inform family members about the condition of the injured. Appropriate compensation will be provided to the families, and the BSL management must take concrete steps to prevent such incidents in the future.” Separately, Bokaro MLA Shwetta Singh and Dhanbad MP Dhulu Mahto also met with the families of the injured. Notably, this is the third accident at BSL since June this year and the second in this unit within. Just two days ago, a heavy ladle fell in SMS-2, at the same unit where the Sunday’s incident occurred but fortunately none were injured.
