Berhampur: The corporators of Berhampur Municipality Corporation (BeMC) on Friday demanded for sanction of sufficient funds and manpower to undertake the developmental works. Led by BeMC mayor Sanghamitra Dalei, several corporators submitted a memorandum to governor Hari Babu Kambhampati through Ganjam collector Keerthi Vassan V at Chhatrapur.“Govt’s grants to the BeMC are very meagre and insufficient to take up developmental work and neither does the civic body have sufficient staff to execute the work. Keeping in mind the shortage of manpower in the office, we have requested the govt to allow the civic body to appoint at least 100 people on an outsourcing basis. It is yet to be approved. We appealed to the governor to consider the situation and direct the govt to sympathetically consider our demands,” Dalei said. She added that they have also planned to meet CM Mohan Charan Majhi and urban development minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra over the issue very soon.
