Bank of Baroda manager booked for ₹71.4 lakh fraud

The Uppinangady Police have booked a joint manager of Bank of Baroda (BoB) for the alleged misappropriation of cash and jewellery worth over ₹71.4 lakh.

Police gave the name of the accused as Subrahmanyam, 30, who was working in BoB, Perne branch and had been the in-charge for the ATM.

According to the complainant, C.V.S. Chandrashekhar, regional manager of BoB in Mangaluru, Subrahmanyam did not deposit exact amounts in the ATM between February 6, 2024 and December 16, 2025, thereby siphoning ₹70.86 lakh. When officials inspected safe lockers after the alleged misappropriation of funds came to light, 4.400 grams of gold jewellery worth ₹55,000 too was found siphoned off. Following these developments, the accused has absconded, the complaint said.

Police have registered a case under the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita for the offences of dishonest misappropriation of property, criminal breach of trust and cheating and are investigating.
