Ranchi: Leader of opposition Babulal Marandi has demanded a CBI inquiry into the alleged administration of HIV positive blood to a woman during a childbirth in Chaibasa district hospital, adding her husband and three-year-old girl have also got infected with the virus.In a message on his X, Marandi claimed that during her first delivery on January 2023, the women was administrated the infected blood. He added that it is the same hospital, which was in the news for infected blood transfusion into a thalassaemia patient a year ago. He added that with such laxity several other persons may also have been infected.He alleged that while the Chief Minister Hemant Soren is signing agreement with private hospitals in Davos in Switzerland, the state government is unable to run its government hospitals smoothly.Chaibasa civil surgeon Dr BG Minz said, “The administration is trying to find out how the women got HIV infected. There is no government record related to her pre-natal check-ups. The HIV tests of the second child would be carried out in the coming months. No one has lodged a complaint in this regard. I learnt about it through reports in some vernacular newspapers. The couple and the first child are, however, positive and their medicines have started.”
