Annamalai evasive on poll alliance with AIADMK | Chennai News – The Times of India
Chennai/Coimbatore: Even as AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami avoided a direct reply to a query on possible alliance with BJP, state president of the saffron party K Annamalai too chose to give an evasive reply.
Addressing reporters in Chennai on Tuesday, he said there was time for the assembly election in Tamil Nadu and that the issue of alliance can be discussed as election neared.
“AMMK founder T T V Dhinakaran told me that his party will be part of NDA in future too. So, NDA is getting stronger. Parties that would be part of NDA can be discussed at the time of election,” he said.
Annamalai said BJP was getting stronger, and their focus at present was to work harder to make it stronger.
Asked about Palaniswami’s statement that no party other than DMK was an enemy of AIADMK, Annamalai said for BJP too none of the parties are enemies. “Our goal is to defeat DMK,” he said. Earlier, addressing reporters at the Coimbatore airport, Annamalai said alliances are not something to be discussed while someone was in a hurry.
He added he would address journalists at length in Chennai on Wednesday. To a query on whether there would be changes in Tamil Nadu politics after the recent visit of Union home minister Amit Shah, he said Shah was scheduled to visit Tamil Nadu in two days and hinted political changes were on the cards.
Regarding his attendance at the wedding of former AIADMK minister S P Velumani’s son in Coimbatore, Annamalai said he was there since Velumani had invited him.
“Palaniswami is expected to attend the reception next week,” he said when asked about the AIADMK leader’s absence when he was attending the wedding.
