Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray raised concerns for not suspending Turkye company Dogus’s operations in Metro 3 line and accused Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde of corruption over the water logging situation in several areas in Mumbai. He also demanded to compensate people, who suffered losses from State government’s treasury.
“As per my information, Dogus is Turkye company, why it is still operating and not suspended like Celebi Airport Services? “ said Mr. Thackeray, adding isn’t a security threat that Mumbai’s largest underground Metro work is operated by them. Besides, he also raised questions over the safety permission and asked despite 718 cracks mentioned in the Safety commissioner’s report how the metro 3 phase 2 was inaugurated.
Mr. Thackeray has demanded to provide compensation to people whose shops and houses drenched into water from the State government treasury. “Yesterday’s chaos was failure of government and not just due to heavy rainfall. From past three years, BMC has been run from Chief Minister Office, from urban development. The government should do the panchnama of losses suffered by people across the State and announce compensation immediately.”
He raised corruption allegations on Eknath Shinde claiming that areas like Breach Candy and Mantralay, which never flooded for the first time witnessed water logging, while Hindmata and Gandhi market areas, which were made flood-free for last three years, again so heavy flooding.
“Eknath Shinde’s corruption is visible everywhere. The roads are left dug be it Borivali or Bandra. The pumping machines were not installed; storm water drains were not cleaned. May witnessed rainfall for third time, why was BMC not prepared. Corruption is rampant. Last year the Chhatrapati Shivaji’s statute was collapsed within eight months of its inauguration, was corruption involved,” he asked.
“BMC is just collecting taxes from people and clearing Deonar dumping ground for Adani,” he added.
