Take on Naidu Over Krishna: Harish to Revanth

Hyderabad: BRS leader and former minister T. Harish Rao challenged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to take on his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N. Chandrababu Naidu to protect Telangana’s rightful share in Krishna waters.
In a statement, responding to Revanth Reddy’s remarks on the BRS government allegedly allowing AP to claim a greater share of river waters, Harish Rao said the Chief Minister was repeatedly resorting to the same blame game against former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, while failing to address real issues faced by the people.
“Telangana constitutes 68 per cent of the Krishna basin, yet suffered for six decades without its rightful share of water. This historical injustice was inflicted by none other than successive Congress governments. It was the Congress that turned Palamuru’s fertile lands into barren fields, forcing its people into migration,” he said.
Harish Rao said that during the Telangana movement, Revanth Reddy was busy serving Naidu. “Even today, he hesitates to question Chandrababu when it comes to Krishna waters. Why this silence,” he asked.
Countering Revanth Reddy’s claim that BRS neglected the projects approved by previous Congress governments, Harish Rao listed out the works carried out by him and said that nearly 12 lakh acres were provided irrigation in Mahbubnagar district alone during BRS rule.
Blaming the Congress for Telangana’s poor water storage infrastructure in the Krishna basin, Harish Rao said not the party’s government had not proposed a single major reservoir under the lift irrigation projects.
“Revanth’s speeches are routinely filled with empty promises and political rhetoric. He talks big about Musi rejuvenation but avoids explaining why the Congress government failed to fulfil the guarantees it promised within 100 days,” Harish Rao said.

Notices Served To 12 KGH Doctors For Not Being On Duty

VISAKHAPATNAM: King George Hospital (KGH) superintendent Dr. K. Sivanand issued notices to 12 doctors, a staff nurse and a technician for being absent from duty in the Outpatient (OP) and Casualty departments when Visakhapatnam in-charge minister Dola Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy and additional Director of Medical Education (DME) Dr. Venkatesh conducted a surprise inspection of the hospital on April 18, Good Friday.
In the notice, the superintendent asked why action should not be taken against these KGH staff for absconding from duties. He sought a reply from them by Saturday.
When the minister inspected the OPs of the gastroenterology and nephrology departments, professors and associate and assistant professors had been missing from both places. Only postgraduate doctors had been present.
This led to the minister getting angry. He ordered district collector M.N. Harendhira Prasad to issue show-cause notices to the missing staff.
Doctors to whom notices have been issued are Dr. L.R.S. Girinath, Dr. Sridevi, Dr. Vamsi Yadav, Dr. Mohan Vamsi, Dr. G. Prasad, Dr. Ratnaprabha, Dr. Y.S. Anitha Dr. Chakravarthy, Dr. V.S.N. Murthy, Dr. K. Narsinga Rao, Dr. Kiran Kumar and Dr. J.S.K.V. Chakravarthy. Others to whom notices have been issued are anaesthesia technician Ch. Amar Babu and head nurse K. Sujatha.
There is an uproar within the hospital medical community over issuing of notices to 14 KGH staff at one go.

Jharkhand minister’s embarrassing gaffe: ‘Himachal CM Sukhu should resign for Pahalgam attack’; later a botched coverup | India News – The Times of India

NEW DELHI: Sudivya Kumar, Jharkhand’s tourism minister and senior leader of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, left his party and alliance partner Congress embarrassed as he demanded the resignation of Himachal chief minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu for the Pahalgam terror attack. On Tuesday, 26 innocent civilians – mostly tourists- were killed brutally by Pakistan backed terrorists in Pahalgam.
“Himachal Pradesh chief minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu should resign over the Pahalgam incident because he failed to save the lives of his people. It is an unfortunate incident and I feel Himachal chief minister should resign,” the senior Jharkhand minister said on Thursday.
Ironically, when Sudivya Kumar realised his gaffe and tried to clarify his remarks, he ended up making another gaffe as he took the name of PDP supremo Mehbooba Mufti, perhaps unaware of the fact that the chief minister of J&K is Omar Abdullah and not Mehbooba. The Jharkhand minister, in a bid to cover up the embarrassment, claimed that he had made the remarks “sarcastically.”
“In the Pahalgam incident, six terrorists infiltrated from a distance of 300 km. Whose failure is this, if not the Centre’s Mehbooba Mufti (PDP chief) is not accountable,” the Jharkhand minister said.
The JMM leader also stoked a controversy as he targeted the Prime Minister, the defence minister and the home minister for failing to take responsibility for the security lapse and also questioned why national mourning was not announced.
The minister said that responsibility should be fixed at the highest level. “If the PM doesn’t respond, then who will?” he said and then cited precedents of “moral accountability”. Sudivya Kumar pointed out resignations of Lal Bahadur Shastri and Nitish Kumar as railway ministers, and Shivraj Patil as home minister following national tragedies. “Earlier, leaders set high standards and accepted moral responsibility. Why is that missing now?” the Jharkhand minister said.
The opposition BJP reacted strongly to Jharkhand minister’s statements.
Leader of opposition in state assembly and former Jharkhand BJP president Babulal Marandi termed his remarks “shameful and disgraceful,” especially at a time when “not just the nation, but the entire world is mourning the tragedy in Kashmir”.
“The sarcasm displayed by the minister is a reflection of deep-rooted arrogance and madness that seems to have overtaken him. His behaviour is extremely embarrassing,” Marandi said.
