French President Emmanuel Macron says Europe’s unity worked in pushing back against pressure from U.S. President Donald Trump, as tensions over Greenland, Denmark’s sovereignty, and Arctic security ripple across the transatlantic alliance. Speaking to reporters as he arrived at the EU summit in Brussels, Macron said the meeting demonstrated clear and unified European support for Denmark’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. “When Europe is united, strong and reacts quickly, things return to normal and calm,” Macron said, while warning that the continent must remain vigilant. The French leader stressed that Europe must continue acting together and show it has “instruments at its disposal” to command respect when threatened. His remarks come amid heightened geopolitical friction involving U.S. demands over Greenland and broader Arctic security concerns.
