One tourist died and another remains missing after falling into the frozen Sela Lake in Arunachal Pradesh when the ice cracked beneath them at nearly 13,700 feet altitude. The incident occurred when a member of a seven-member tourist group moved toward the centre of the lake to take photographs. As the ice gave way, he plunged into the icy water, and two companions attempting to rescue him were also submerged. Following an alert, a specialised rescue team from the Army’s Gajraj Corps rushed to the spot. Despite sub-zero temperatures and harsh conditions, Army divers, along with police and civil authorities, rescued two individuals. One was revived, while the other was declared dead. Search operations continue for the missing tourist.
