BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla has criticized the Tamil Nadu government over the Thiruparankundram Deepam controversy, accusing Chief Minister Stalin’s administration of a “double face.” Poonawalla said the government allows festivities at the Dargah freely, but restricts Hindus from lighting the Deepam despite a single-judge ruling in their favor. He added that even the High Court division bench upheld the order, yet the government approached the Supreme Court and allegedly threatened the judge, even moving an impeachment motion against him. Poonawalla said these actions reflect the state government’s mindset and bias, highlighting what he called unequal treatment of religious communities in the state.
