BJP leader and Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy on Sunday said the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will considerably increase its vote share, and also the number of seats in the upcoming 2026 Assembly election in Puducherry.

Addressing workers of the party’s frontal organisations, Mr. Reddy said the party’s vote share had increased by 14% in the 2021 Assembly election. As a result, the BJP won six seats and was a crucial part of the government. The people of Puducherry will prefer the NDA, a double-engine government in the upcoming election, he said.

The BJP-AINRC alliance will defeat the DMK and Congress in the 2026 election. The NDA will increase its vote share and also the number of seats while the Congress and DMK will forfeit their deposits, he said.

“We have seen the performance of the DMK-Congress combine in neighbouring Tamil Nadu. The alliance has only indulged in corruption, promoting family politics, encouraged atrocities against women, abused Sanatana Dharma, and created language and north-south divide,” he alleged.

The BJP-led NDA will always promote and respect Tamil culture, and preserve the way of life of the Tamil people. This is not a political calculation but genuine love for the Tamil makkal of Puducherry, he said.

Mr. Reddy called upon the rank and file of the party to work hard at the booth level, visit door-to-door, and continuously engage with the voters and inform them of the Union Government’s support to the Union Territory. “We need to continuously inform the people of the transformation work done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the last 12 years.,” he said.

Stating that India had emerged from a period of stagnation to a powerful global player, Mr. Reddy said that Mr. Modi’s economic policies have made India, the fourth-largest economy in the world, overtake Japan. India attracted Foreign Direct Investment worth $748.78 billion, an increase of 143% over the previous 11 years. This was possible because of reform-oriented policies of the Prime Minister and the NDA’s unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, corruption-free ecosystem, good governance and ease of doing business, he said.

Mr. Reddy said he was confident that the NDA combine will repeat its victory in the 2026 Assembly election.

“We need 100% dedication and commitment of each BJP worker and they should focus on all sections of the people, including community leaders and association leaders, and visit every nook and corner of the State. Each assembly segment should hold focused meeting, maintaining continuous engagement with the workers at the grassroot and booth level, and voter in every house,” he said. A. Namassivayam, Home Minister and V.P. Ramalingame, State BJP president were present at the event.
