The jallikattu events organised at Mahalikudi village in Tiruchi district and at Mathiyanallur in Pudukottai district left 49 persons injured on Sunday.
The event at Mahalikudi saw the release of 476 bulls with the number of participating tamers being 184. Police sources said 35 persons were injured of whom two were referred to the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital in Tiruchi. The rest of the injured were treated as out-patients at the venue.
A total of 714 bulls were released during the event held at Mathiyanallur with 250 tamers taking part. Fourteen persons were injured. Of them, 12 were referred to the Pudukottai Government Medical College Hospital and the Government Hospital, Annavasal. Two of the injured were treated at the venue, the sources added.
